Let’s face facts: finding a quality protein powder is not easy. Not only does it have to be affordable, but it has to be effective as well.
That’s where we come in. We ask the tough questions: Is Phase 8 all just hype? How does it taste? What makes this supplement stand out? We test and research and eventually get you the thing you’ve been searching for… the truth.
Muscletech’s Phase 8 claims to be one of the best protein powders on the market today, with plenty of fitness enthusiasts singing its praises. Is Phase 8 really worth your money? Or is this just another false alarm?
Taste and Mixability:
Honestly, Phase 8 has a great taste, regardless of which flavor you pick. We’re friends for the milk chocolate and peanut butter chocolate, but vanilla, white chocolate, strawberry and cookies and cream are pretty good too.
In terms of mixability, Phase 8 is pretty thick and creamy. In fact, it can be a bit grainy, although that shouldn’t be an issue for most experienced fitness enthusiasts. But for some first-time trainers, the consistency might take some getting used to.
In our Muscletech Phase 8 review, the first thing we noticed was the high-quality ingredient list and the (seemingly) affordable price. We were actually pretty excited to review this until we got to the directions section.
According to Phase 8, people should consume “4 scoops daily for a minimum of six weeks” if they want the best possible results.
To put that in perspective for you, that would be 104 grams of protein a day, without any other sort of meals. While that may be reasonable for some of the more wealthy, this just isn’t a viable option for many people. At that rate, a 4.4 pound container would only last 12.5 days. We’d suggest taking 1-2 servings a day instead, making this supplement much better value for money.
The best price we found for a 4.5lbs tub (50 servings) was $40.29 at Amazon.com.
If you’re reading this review on Phase 8, you probably understand the value of protein (if you don’t, no need to be embarrassed, just check out this article. We’ve got you covered).
One quick look at the ingredient list tells us everything we need to know. 26 grams of protein, 4.6 grams of BCAA’s, a clearly labeled digestive enzyme matrix (that actually works, by the way) and only 150 calories prove that this protein is serious about delivering results.
Using Phase 8, most people found that this protein supplement helped their recovery process. By providing a respectable amount of protein for your muscles to use, you’ll find yourself recovering faster and getting stronger in the process.
Beyond that, the digestive enzyme matrix works very well. We never felt any discomfort from the shake, which was fantastic since the last thing we want while recovering is an upset stomach.
The side effects that plague Phase 8 are not particularly uncommon when it comes to protein powder. Too much can cause high cholesterol and a decrease in calcium. If you start to feel sick or ill, stop taking Phase 8 and consult your physician.
- Great Taste
- Clearly labeled ingredient list
- High quality protein
- Expensive if you follow their directions on consumption
- May be too thick for some
Muscletech Phase 8 – Our Verdict:
Let’s get one thing clear: this is not a bad supplement. In fact, Phase 8 is a well-designed, effective protein…when you follow the directions. Unfortunately, the directions also ask you to have 4 servings a day, which is a huge deal-breaker for many of you out there. Listen, if you have the money, it’s fantastic. Overall, Phase 8 delivers in effectiveness and taste, it’s also pretty good value for money if you ignore the recommended amount and stick with the standard 1-2 servings per day.
