I'll Pump You Up

Let’s look at some of the facts: Fitness has never been more trendy or relevant in our culture. With the increase in interest, more supplement companies have popped up, claiming that their pre-workout is better than any other pre-workout on the planet.

More often than not, we end up getting a ton of the same pre-workouts, just produced by different companies. Where’s the originality? The creativity? Well, Gaspari aims to change all that with its pre-workout SuperDrive. Is it all talk? Or does SuperDrive successfully reinvent the pre-workout?

Taste and Mixability:

When it comes to the taste of Gaspari SuperDrive, it just comes down to personal preference. Some people are huge fans of Fruit Punch (which was actually our favorite) and Orange Mango.  Strawberry Kiwi seems to be a fan favorite as well, with plenty of people swearing by its flavor profile. Frankly, every flavor of Gaspari SuperDrive earned our respect.

Every flavor was easy on the palate and managed to avoid having the dreaded aftertaste everyone worries about. At the end of the day, Gaspari did a great job with their flavors. The mixability of this supplement impressed us as well. It easily dissolved into water, leaving little, if any, residue behind.

When most people think about the concept of value, they tend to think in dollar signs. That being said, the amount of money we spend on a supplement is not nearly as important as how well it works. A cheap pre-workout is useless if it doesn’t give you the energy boost.

During our Gaspari SuperDrive review, we noticed that the actual price of this supplement is actually pretty competitive. At less than $1.00 a serving, this pre-workout definitely stands out as an affordable alternative to some of the more expensive pre-workouts on the market today (still out of your price range? Check out our other pre-workouts reviews).

Now, we get to the good stuff. To kick off our breakdown of Gaspari SuperDrive’s effectiveness as a pre-workout, let’s take a look at the ingredient list. First on the list is MitoDrive (2500mg of it); Gaspari’s catchy name for a compound they use called Ornithine Malate. The only thing you need to keep in mind about this ingredient is that it’s used to increase muscular growth and athletic performance.

Moving right along, the next ingredient on the list worth mentioning is 1000mgs of Carnitine Tartrate (or as Gaspari would call it: Carnipure). According to a Japanese study from 2001, Carnitine was found to result in higher endurance performance (when ingested with caffeine, as this study suggests). Interestingly enough, SuperDrive happens to have caffeine as an ingredient as well. At 250mg of caffeine per serving, this pre-workout is about twice as strong as a cup of coffee.

Triacetin might be the most interesting ingredient in this supplement. During our Gaspari SuperDrive review, we discovered that Triacetin was actually an active ingredient in the diet of astronauts in the 1970’s. Apparently, astronauts were able to get as much as 50% of their energy from Triacetin in their diet (according to this document published by NASA). The idea here is that SuperDrive uses the 1000mgs of Triacetin to provide you with more energy for your workouts.

Of course, the big question on everyone’s mind is: does this stuff work? After finishing our Gaspari SuperDrive review, we can easily say that this pre-workout works…for the most part. While SuperDrive definitely works when it comes to providing more energy for our workouts, we didn’t notice any increase in pumps or muscular growth.

This was particularly surprising considering that Gaspari’s other pre-workout (SuperPump Max) impressed us with its ability to produce muscle pumps. While SuperDrive didn’t deliver in the pump department, there’s no denying how effective this pre-workout was as an energy booster.

Side Effects:

The side effects for SuperDrive aren’t anything particularly ominous or intense, honestly. Don’t exceed the recommended doses; don’t consume for more than 8 weeks and, as always, consult with your physician if you feel ill in any way after consumption.

Gaspari SuperDrive – Our Verdict:

Gaspari has been creating high quality supplements for years now, with few failures or slip-ups along the way. SuperDrive seems to be more of what we have come to expect from the people at Gaspari. Here we have an unconventional supplement that takes the pre-workout market and challenges it to be more original. Is this pre-workout particularly amazing in any category? Not really. But what this supplement does have going for it is its willingness to be different. So if you’re looking for something a bit different, a bit more original, go ahead and give Gaspari SuperDrive a shot.
